Mercer "Truman" Miller, 72, passed February 28, 2021 at SECU Hospice House, Smithfield, NC.

He was the youngest of five children born to the late Ottis & Nora Mercer Miller.

In addition to his parents he preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Brandy Leigh Miller and brother Ottis Jere Miller.

Truman retired in 2010 after spending the last 25 years of his career as a Territory Manager for a wholesale distributor of counter tops, laminate, equipment and tools used to manufacture cabinets in Eastern NC & NE SC.  His customers considered him a friend.  After he retired, Truman loved to plant a small garden to grow vegetables.  He also began harvesting, husking, curing and cracking Black Walnuts from trees in his yard.  His largest harvest was over 17,000 walnuts several years ago.

He is survived by his wife Barbara R. Miller of Kenansville, NC, children, Erik Wells of Holly Springs, NC, Sheri Day (Tom) of Merritt, NC, Tiffany Parks (Patrick) of New Bern, NC., Sister, Barbara Ferguson of Atlanta, GA, Brothers, Bernell Miller (Carolyn) of Lynchburg, VA, Willie Miller (Carolyn) Beulaville, NC, Grandchildren, Brandon Wells,Erika Wells, Isabelle Day and Adrianna Parks.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation to follow at Hallsville Presbyterian Church.
