Rupert Futreal passed away at the NC Veterans Home in Kinston, NC on Sunday, September 17, 2023.  Rupert grew up as a boy working on a farm.   He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served two tours during the Korean War.  Rupert met the love of his life, Effie Heath in 1951.  They were married for 37 years.   Together Rupert and Effie raised 3 children. After the death of his wife in 1988, Rupert married Faye Taylor and was together until her death in 2018.

Rupert was known for being an awesome appliance repairman.  He was the owner of Hallsville Appliance Service for many years. He worked for Furniture Fair, Major Appliance & Furniture and later General Electrical.  After retirement, he drove a tour bus for La Grange Bus Company. He really enjoyed driving for the Kinston Indians minor league baseball team to events.  He drove a school bus for Duplin County Schools for over ten years. . Rupert attended Hallsville Baptist Church faithfully handing out bulletins for over 50 years.

He loved driving any type of vehicle and really loved mowing grass. You could usually find him at Hardee's, McDonald's or Mom and Pop's store.

Rupert is survived by his daughter Wanda Brown and husband Jerry of Beulaville, NC; son Randy (Pete) Futreal and wife, Tammie of Beulaville, NC; daughter Marilyn McKay of Richlands, NC; grandchildren David Brown, Monica McKay, Kevin Brown, James Allen McKay and Bailey Marshburn; great-grandchildren Esperanza McKay, Hadley McKay, Berkley Marshburn, Hollyn Marshburn, Dylan Brown, Dustin Brown, Georgia Brown, Gunner Brown, many nieces and nephews.

The family will be gathering at the home of Tammie and Pete Futreal located at 106 Quarter Horse Lane, Beulaville, NC.
