Peggy Sandlin Whaley Stevens, 80 of Beulaville passed away on Friday, April 29, 2023 at her home.

Peggy was a beloved mother to her daughter Amy and her son Shannon. She was a loving grandmother "Mammy" to her only grandchild, Gracie.

Her devotion to family was evident through her sacrificial nature and love of time together. Mrs. Peggy found joy in not only spending time with her family but crafting and quilting. She was dedicated to serving others and her Almighty God. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and Church pianist & organist through the years. Her mission field expanded to local nursing homes where she would make frequent visits to share her musical talents and homemade gifts with the residents. She spent many years serving as a substitute teacher, teacher assistant and Chill-Out Director in the Duplin County School system. During these years she became a "mother" to many children who were drawn to her nurturing spirit and love for youth.
Simplicity was her trademark in life. Peggy found riches and wealth through relationships and service to others. She found great joy in welcoming guests into her home for visits filled with laughter often accompanied by an impromptu meal of fried chicken and banana sandwiches. You could stop by many nights and find her with friends around the kitchen table playing a card game. She had a true love for life.

Peggy's legacy of being a devout mother, grandmother, friend and teacher will remain as a constant reminder of the reign of goodness in this world.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband David Addison Stevens.
Survivors are her daughter Amy Allbee (husband Gary) of Beulaville, NC; her son Shannon Whaley (wife Jennifer) of Jacksonville, NC;  her  granddaughter, Lillie Grace Whaley (Gracie) of Jacksonville, NC; her niece/"daughter" Susan Parker (husband Harry) of Beulaville, NC; and her special friend Travis Futreal of Beulaville, NC.
