Millard William (Bill) Lanier of Mill Swamp, NC, went home in glory on February 28, 2023. Bill was 81 years old at the time of his death.

Bill was born in Mill Swamp, North Carolina, March 22, 1941 to Leslie and Mary Lanier. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965 and soon after found a career as a mechanic at J. P. Stevens where he would eventually retire after 30+ years. While working at J.P. Stevens, Bill met the love of his life, Naomi Tyner, whom he later married on November 09, 1996. They both served faithfully at Oak Grove Freewill Holiness Church.

Bill was blessed with many musical talents and could virtually play any instrument he put his hands on. Music was a cornerstone of his life and he enjoyed serving our Lord with his wife and other musicians.

Bill is proceeded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, Myrtle, Madeline, Minnie, Mable and his twin sister, Morlene, and 1 brother, Mack.

Millard is survived by his wife, Naomi, daughter, Briana Barber (Arnold) of Maysville, Thomas Smith (Jennifer) of Hope Mills, Sheila Aycock (Terry) of Harrells as well as 2 sisters, Mellie Dail of Chinquapin and Martha Currie of Leland, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Millard's Life Celebration Service will be held at Oak Grove Freewill Holiness Church of Pin Hook on Sunday, March 5, at 3:00 PM, with visitation at 2:00 PM.

Interment at the Amas Lanier Cemetery, Chinquapin.
