Martha Quinn Summerlin, 84, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Martha Quinn Summerlin, a mama, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and wife;
Plain and simple, she and E.V. lived a good but quiet life.
As a homemaker, a nice, cozy, and welcoming place she worked hard keeping it tidy;
For all the steps she made and the things that she did, Wade and E.V. have no "idey."
The doors to their home was always open to all who would ender in,
And the welcome mat was ever in place for those needing a bed in which, the night to spend.
Nieces and nephews were taken in when their luck had gone bad;
Others were too, and to being able to help the downtrodden out, E.V. and Martha were glad.
Martha had a way of loving others, and that love always shown through;
Her strong faith in the Lord always gave her the strength to do those things that she would do.
She learned to give her problems to God, and with situations to not get upset;
She knew in the end it would all work out, and it didn't do a bit of good to grumble and to fret.
A lot of what Martha did, she did not in the public eye;
She was a behind-the-scenes type of gal, but in serving the Lord and her fellowman, she did her best to try.
The sick and shut-ins she'd visit, always taking with her that broad, cheerful smile,
And in hand with her would be a homemade goody every once in a while.
She kept many neighborhood children while their parents at work, they would be;
The love she had for all these kids made them immediately become a part of her own family.
Pretty clothes she liked to wear,
And she was always fixed up nicely, especially with Wade being home to cut and fix her hair.
She always had pretty jewelry, her lipstick put on just so,
It didn't take a lot to make Martha happy, she was just fine being on the "down low."
Martha catered to her beloved E.V., and he, in turn, catered to her,
And they both catered to Wade, and he to them—oh, the times that were!
As disease robbed her of her thinking and slowly diminished her being,
The Good Lord took her home, and today, we cannot imagine what her eyes are seeing.
Back with E. V. and their little boy who died,
They, along with many other loved ones were there with arms opened wide
To welcome Martha home to the heavens above
Where no sickness nor sorrows abide, only God's perfect love.
