Macon Douglas “Doug” Brown

November 1, 1950 – July 7, 2026

Macon Douglas “Doug” Brown, 75, of Beulaville, North Carolina, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on November 1, 1950, Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Macon and Kathleen Brown, and by his beloved brother, Donald Ray Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ada Thigpen Brown, of Beulaville; his daughter, Celeste Brown Kirby, and husband, Brian, of Greenville; his son, Jarrett Brown, and wife, Stephanie, of Raleigh; and his cherished grandchildren, Emily Kirby Nagle (Tom), Mary Ellen Kirby Ward (Brandon), Eli Kirby, Caroline Brown, and Vivienne Brown.

Doug’s life was a testimony of faith lived out through service to his family, church, and community. As a lifelong member, Beulaville Baptist Church was the cornerstone of his life. He was a dedicated deacon and choir member, as well as devoting countless hours mentoring and encouraging young people through the church’s youth ministry.

Working most of his life in construction and real estate, Doug also spent time farming, auctioneering, and numerous other ventures. For more than 40 years, he answered the call to serve his community as a member of the Beulaville Volunteer Fire Department and EMS. During emergencies and difficult nights when others needed hope, he was always willing to help. Doug served Beulaville as a member of the town board and was a frequent volunteer at East Duplin High School. He gave of himself with generosity and selflessness.

Above all, Doug treasured his family. He was the devoted husband of Ada, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, faith, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a home where faith came first, family was cherished, and integrity was a way of life. As a family man, Doug led not by demanding respect but by earning it. He was a hero, best friend, and steady foundation. He taught his children and grandchildren what truly matters: to love God, love people, work hard, keep your word, and always be willing to help someone in need. Though his family and friends mourn his passing, they rejoice knowing his faith has become sight and can find comfort that he has heard the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”— Matthew 25:23
