Obituary

Lola Jeanette Henderson Sholar, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, at Goldsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.

She is preceded in death by parents, Bernie & Edna Henderson, spouse, George Dunn Sholar, Jr., son, George Michael Sholar, sister, Dorothy Mae Sholar, grandchildren, Samantha Seguin & Elizabeth (Beth) Sholar, and a great-grandchild, Caleb Gore.

Lola is survived by her sons Anthony (Tony) Sholar and Jonathan (Johnny) Sholar, daughter Melissa Sholar Seguin and husband, David, daughter-in-law Cathy Sholar, sister Vivian Henderson Teachey and husband, Donald, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Known by most as Jeanette or Jim, she lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was a faithful Christian woman whose love for God guided the way she cared for others, and lived each day with grace, humility, and compassion. She was a devoted wife to her husband George for 32 years and together they built a family grounded in faith, love, and perseverance. She was also a cherished sister to Dorothy and Vivian, whose love and support blessed her family throughout her life.

Family was at the center of Jeanette's heart. She found joy in life's simple blessings – time spent with family, heartfelt conversations sitting around the dinner table, spending time in prayer and at church, tending her beautiful flower gardens, and making everyone around her felt welcomed and loved. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and steadfast faith were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. In the early years, you could usually find many of the nieces and nephews coming in and out of her backdoor, sampling her good country cooking.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Saviour, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her life was a beautiful testimony of enduring faith and sacrificial love. As it says in Matthew 25:23, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew her.
