Larry Allen Butts, 79, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2025, VA Hospital, Durham, NC

Larry Butts was born on June 28, 1946, in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Hartwell and Madge Butts.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Constitution and also served during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he went on to work at Sanford Honda, where he later retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charlie Butts.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Bostic Butts (formerly of Beulaville); his sons, Trey Womble and wife Katharine of Wilmington, NC; John Butts of Cary, NC; and Scott Hunt of Maiden, NC; his daughters, Jennifer Stone and husband Mike of Sanford, NC; and Kimberly Butts of Santa Cruz, California.  He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Gabrielle Stone and Connor Stone of Sanford, NC and Malia Womble, Quinn Womble, and Willa Womble of Wilmington, NC.

Larry loved life and found joy in the simple things. He spent countless hours birdwatching and observing the deer and other wildlife in his backyard. He had a deep appreciation for all varieties of music and enjoyed expressing his creativity through wood carving. Larry will be remembered for his love of nature, his artistic spirit, and his devotion to family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hartwell and Madge Butts and a brother, Charlie Butts
