Obituary

Gladys Suggs Maready passed away peacefully on July 17, 2022 at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation Center in Morehead City, NC where she had resided since 2015. Gladys celebrated her 100th birthday on May 6, 2022.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Community Funeral Home, 840 West Main Street, Beulaville, NC. The family will receive friends before the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow the service at Amos Lanier Cemetery, Chinquapin, NC.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Tinnie Suggs, her husband, Elzie Maready, and son, Morrison Maready.
She is survived by son, Mike Maready(Bonnie),
Grandson, Ben Maready, Granddaughter, Marian Maready Lee (Aaron), Great Granddaughter, Charlotte Lee, all of Greensboro, NC.
Upon retirement Gladys and Elzie moved to Emerald Isle, NC where they settled into a life of fishing, a new church and meeting new friends. Their home was always open to
family and old friends visiting whenever possible. Gladys was a loving mother and grandmother who put family first. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. Her specialities were Southern comfort dishes that soothed the soul. She always had a homemade chocolate cake on the kitchen counter when anyone came to visit. Gladys aspired to making everyone who visited her home comfortable and welcomed.
She will truly be missed by her friends and family.
The Maready Family would like to thank Crystal Bluffs for their excellent care and service and their never ending attentiveness to Gladys.
