Delaine Rector was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She would think of any reason to get the family together. Her family was her heart. She also enjoyed a good shopping trip where her husband Ed would ask her to" buy me something pretty".

Delaine grew up in Union County, South Carolina. She graduated from Union High School and met the love of her life as a teenager when Ed Rector walked off the baseball field. Delaine and Ed were married June 15, 1957 at the Buffalo United Methodist Church where they started their family.

After moving to Kenansville in 1974, Delaine started  making her impact within the community. Prior to her career as an educator at Kenansville Elementary School (KES), she worked with the local radio station WTRQ among other positions in the private sector. Delaine taught several wonderful years at KES. Her compassion affected many generations of students, staff, parents, and the community.

While working at KES, she also loved her position at Duplin Country Club (DCC) as Event Coordinator. There was always a good time to be had when Delaine coordinated the annual Member/Guest Weekend and other DCC events. Delaine's outreach also touched the community in her involvement with directing weddings, holiday events, and family celebrations.
