Craig Mckelpine Crumpler, 82, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
C raig Crumpler, farmer's son, retired U.S. Navy sailor, business owner, boat captain, husband, father, grandfather, and custodian / mentor of wayward teens and Marines passed away on Saturday, 27 September 2025.
Craig was loved by his family and adored by his grandchildren. Craig was known all over the world: sometimes with a scowl on his face and sometimes with a smile on his face, but always with a sense of humor. There was never a child he didn't like, a homeless pet he wouldn't care for or take to the vet, nor a U.S. Marine far from home that he wouldn't open his home to. Few people have lived as interesting a life as Craig: he has sailed all over the world, witnessed world history taking place, played baseball against major league legends, chatted with Admiral Chester Nimitz, been fly fishing with Ted Williams, the baseball hall of famer, and beaten the biggest names in motorcycle road racing, all while staying involved with his children.
After traveling the world, he passed away close to where he was born, on Old Chinquapin Road, Beulaville, NC. He remained close with his children and grandchildren until his death and was fortunate enough to see all of them the week he passed away.
He will be missed.
